Blue Fish
The Blue Fish level is where swimmers really begin to show their growing independence in the water. Just like at the Green Fish stage, listening and following directions remain an essential part of each lesson, but at this point, children are much more comfortable and confident in the pool. With a solid foundation already in place, Blue Fish swimmers are ready to take on more advanced skills that bring them closer to swimming independently with proper technique.
At this stage, swimmers start learning to swim short distances unassisted in both freestyle and backstroke. For longer distances, instructors provide gentle assistance to ensure children feel supported while building strength and stamina. Developing the ability to move confidently across the pool marks a huge milestone for young swimmers, and every small success helps boost their confidence.
An exciting new skill introduced at this level is the side breath—an essential component of the freestyle stroke. Children practice turning their head to the side for air while keeping their body aligned and moving forward. This takes coordination, but with practice, it becomes second nature and sets the stage for strong stroke development.
Blue Fish swimmers are also introduced to the basics of diving, giving them the opportunity to practice safe entries into the water in a fun and controlled environment. These skills combine safety, technique, and confidence to help swimmers progress toward more advanced strokes and greater independence.
The Blue Fish level is a fun and rewarding step in the journey, where swimmers truly begin to feel like confident, capable little athletes in the pool.
